Bonded magnets are typically created by compressing a mixture of alloy powder and epoxy resin into molds. They can also be produced by injection or extrusion of alloy powder mixed with plastic. Key features of sintered magnets include:

  1. Increased magnetic strength, removing the need for additional sintering or mechanical modifications: Bonded magnets possess a magnetic strength that lies between the sintered magnets and ferrites, ensuring uniformity and durability.

  2. Shape versatility and precision: These magnets can be formed into various shapes such as rings, tiles and blocks with exact dimensions.

  3. Superior Corrosion Resistance: With the application of electrodeposition (ED) coatings or special treatments, these magnets demonstrate reliable performance under standard and harsh environmental conditions over extended periods of time.

  4. Diverse Magnetization Options: Bonded magnets allow complex magnetization patterns, including multipole and angular variations, resulting in different field distributions such as square or sinusoidal shapes.

  5. Ideal for efficient mass production: These magnets lend themselves to high-volume and efficient manufacturing processes.

Bonded magnets are primarily used in a range of small to tiny motors, including spindle motors, stepper motors, synchronous motors, direct current (DC) motors and brushless DC motors. They offer a preferable alternative to sintered magnets and ferrites, simplifying the motor assembly process, improving reliability, reducing costs and increasing overall production efficiency.
